About the Program
New Italy Visa Process Starting Fall 2025
The Italian Senate recently approved a Legislative Decree introducing key changes that will significantly impact the visa application process for students planning to study abroad in Italy for longer than 90 days.
Starting January 10, 2025, students must appear in person at their consulate for fingerprinting. Batch processing like IES Abroad's ACCeSS program will no longer be allowed.
We're looking at interim solutions for our Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 programs, including possibly modifying the length of our programs. We expect to have more information soon and will keep all applicants, students, and school partners informed.

About the Destination
Why Rome?
With thousands of years of well-documented history, including countless writings, amazing archaeological sites, monuments, sculptures, and other artifacts, there is no better city to study History and Classics than Rome. So study the effect of the past on the present in a city that has not only survived, but flourished over most of its 2,500+ year history.
What’s more? History and Classics are a lifelong passion of Gianni Ponti, your Center Director in Rome, who, as an archaeologist specialized in Imperial Roman architecture, Gianni has hands-on experience and a wide network in the field. Having worked on several excavations in Rome, and conducted research for the Department of Antiquities, Gianni served as the Archaeology Advisor to the American Academy in Rome, and more.
